Reboot to this Neighborhood Rotation

You guys! I really don’t know what to say, but I accidentally deleted everything. Everything! I feel like I could cry. I was trying to reboot my other laptop, and I emptied a folder to make more room, and didn’t realize I was permanently removing a file that was synced across the cloud.

I seriously need a hug…

I know I haven’t been writing as much because the last year and a half has been tough (marriage splitting up and moving to Belgium to pursue my MBA, yadda yadda), but I could not believe my eyes when I loaded up my game to see that not a single save file was there. All my plans for all these saves–gone.

Ok… I’m going to stop complaining (for now) because I have a plan. My brain works like that, you know? I’m sad and I want a stiff drink and I kind of just want to take a 6 hour nap and delay feeling anything, but instead I’m diving in with a solution.

I will do a reboot! It’s not like when a story starts over from the beginning with the same characters and just charts a different path. It’s more like when Beverly Hills, 90210 became 90210. I watched the new show, and I liked it more than the old one #unpopularopinion.

I feel good at least that I made it to Quincy & Daniella’s wedding. I had big plans for what came next. Luca was going to slide into a depression, he was doing it already on his own, moping around for no good reason. Sigh, there was going to be a reckoning for his choices! And I really wanted to see if Bo & Heaven ever found their way back to each other. And Carmen and Hugo were about to dive headfirst into their new blended family situation, and that was going to be fun since his daughter was a vampire! Laurel was getting close to aging up to Elder, so it would’ve been fun to see which of her relatives inherited her spot in the club. And Gavin’s political career was about to be heavily affected by everything that had happened, and I wanted to show how that would play out. Plus, his & Akira’s kids were going to grow up to be hot! I wanted to show that.

Just to say goodbye, here’s that ridiculous group picture I made with all my Sims. I promise not to let the group get this large on the next go round!

But alas, it’s time to say farewell to those poor deleted Sims and pick new ones. I’ve got my game loaded up, and I will see where it takes me. I really enjoyed writing this neighborhood rotation (when I had time). I look forward to seeing what these new Sims teach me about dreams & drama.

Thanks if you’re still following this blog, and hopefully you’ll join me on the new adventure.

  1. Oh goodness! I’m so sorry to hear all of that. It’s devastating to loose something you spent so much time on. I can’t wait to join you on the new adventure! You’re very creative and I know I’ll enjoy it. 🙂

    1. Thanks Ny! It was pretty devastating, but I’m learning to love my new Sims. Of course I’ll fondly remember the others, and occasionally think about what could have been, haha. But hopefully it’s more nostalgia than PTSD.

  2. My condolences!! Oh my goodness. I’m not sure what I would do if I lost everything. Well, after you’ve recovered from all your stiff drinks, I’m sure you’ll come up with an amazing story.

    1. Thanks Jes. I have my Sims backed up in the gallery, but it’s older versions with some kids missing and whatnot. I cannot bear to rewind their stories because I’d fallen in love with the 1,8274 toddlers in my game, haha. Maybe one day I’ll take inspiration from you and do an alternate reality for one family or another. Carmen and Hugo seem like good candidates for that.

  3. Oh, hugs, hugs, hugs. It happens. So sad it happens. At first, I was afraid that your blog had been deleted! That happens sometimes, too.

My dear friend friendsfan36 has rebooted her story… about five times now. And it does get better each time. Reboots are quite awesome.

And maybe any of your Sims might be on the gallery somewhere? So they could make cameos in the reboot?

    1. Thanks Cathy! They are indeed on the gallery, just older (younger?) versions of themselves. That’s something to think about for the reboot. And I forgot that friendsfan36 has rebooted her story multiple times. That’s inspiring that things could get better from here!

    1. Thanks so much! I really appreciate everything you said. I’ll miss them too, but I’ve had some interesting ideas for what do with the versions of them that live on the gallery. But first I want to get to know the new Sims and see where that story takes me.
